The Power Engineers Institute of Technology is a non-profit (501c3) corporation. The corporation is governed by an all volunteer board of directors comprised of men and women who have excelled within the profession of Power Engineering. PEIT is dedicated to increasing the standards of the profession through education of next generation peers.

Because we are non-profit, all proceeds obtained from tuition, grants and donations are used for improving the teaching and training aids of our students as well as providing the necessary funding for our day to day operations.

PEIT's corporate offices are located in Crestwood, Illinois and its training center is in Arlington Heights, Illinois

Our educational services are recognized by many organizations, associations and employers. We are an approved provider of continuing educational services for the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI).

Many of the largest employers in the Midwest use PEIT for their training needs. We would be happy to send you a list of past clients.

 

INSTRUCTORS:

Joe Boni

A graduate from Aurora University, Joe is the Chief Engineer at Chicago's Orchestra Hall. Joe presently serves as instructor for Absorbers and Chillers and the Brazing and Soldering Lab.

Joe Kiefer

A graduate from DePaul University with a Masters from Governors State University, Joe has been an instructor with PEIT for many years. He is presently the instructor for the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Classes and the EPA Refrigerant Certification Class.

Bill Shillington

A graduate from Northeastern Illinois University, Bill is employed by Miller Fluid Power Corp. as the Facility Manager. A long time instructor for PEIT, Bill presently teaches the Electricity Iand Electricty II classes.

Dan Hickey

A graduate from Triton College, Dan works as the Critical Systems Manager for Qwest Communications. Dan teaches the Testing and Balancing courses for PEIT

John Madl

A graduate of Illinois Benedictine College with a dual Masters from the University of Pittsburgh, John retired from a 30 year career with the City of Chicago as a Chief Engineer, Plant Manager and Special Projects Administrator. John teaches a variety of our management classes and the morning classes for Steam Plant Operations, Hydronics and Industrial Maintenance.

Art Miller

A graduate of LaCrosse University, Art works as Chief Engineer for Cushman Wakefield Company and is an expert in HVAC controls. Art presently teaches the pneumatic and DDC courses as well as the Programmable Locgic Contoller classes.

Tom Shannon

Tom is a graduate of Loyola University and presently works for Chicago Backflow, Inc. as a cross connection control inspector. A licensed plumber, Tom brings real world experience into the classroom. Tom presently teaches the plumbing course for PEIT.

Russ Harrop

A graduate from Northwestern University, Russ has been an instructor with PEIT for many years. Russ presently teaches the Steam Plant I and II classes as well as the Stationary Engineers License Review Course.
